An envigoration shower is a sure way to get a jump start in your day. So when most of us hear the term "Water Efficient Shower Heads", visions of a wimpy shower flowing down to a trickle come to mind. But this is simply not the case with technology improvements in today's water efficient shower heads.
Save Water and Electricity
Yes, you'll save water and electricity. Although the most obvious advantage of using a water efficient shower head is the decrease in water consumption, an ever more significant factor is the savings you will see in your gas/electric bill when used in a hmoe with a tankless water heater.
Tankless water heaters only heat as much water as you are using. And since you will be using less water with your water efficient shower head, your heater will consume less power to heat a smaller amount of water. The more hot water you use, the more power the tankless water heater consumes. use less hot water, use less power, and save more on your electric or gas bill.
Low flow shower heads Vs. standard shower heads
How does a standard flow rate compare to a low flow shower head? How low can you go? If you have fixtures that pre-date 1992, you should consider replacing them. Before 1992, some showerheads had flow rates of 5.5 GPM (Gallons Per Minute).
Federal regulations now mandated that new shower heads do not exceed 2.5 GPM, at a water pressure of 80 PSI, or 2.2 GPM at 60 PSI.
A low flow, or water efficient showerhead will have a flow rating of 1.5 GPM or less. At the same time that they consume less water, they will make the smaller amount of water feel like more. In other words, you may be taking a shower with a 1.5 GPM shower head, but the special mechanism in the shower head makes the smaller amount of water feel like more. YOu'll only be using 1.5 GPM, but it will feel like 2.5 GPM.
These special shower heads are designed in such a way that the water stream is accelerated, forced out of the shower head, providing and robust shower experience, yet using less water than a standard shower head.
Save even more with low flow shower heads
If are already using, or plan on using a tankless water heater, you can expect savings of up to 60% percent on your water heating costs. You can further increase those savings approximately another 50% by using water efficient shower heads. By decreasing the flow from 2.5 GPM or perhaps an even higher GPM, down to 1.5 GPM or less, you'll be able to save that much more.
You will find a wide variety of water efficient shower heads in our online store, as well as other water saving products designed to saver water and energy while maintaining a high level of performance. Remember, wimpy showers a thing of the past.
